Yours

I was dirty with the stain of my sin, wandering far from Your grace,

When You called me back, wiping every tear from my face.

I told myself I’d been left behind when I wandered so far away,

But You gently reminded me that You’re always here to stay.

Like the prodigal son I had turned back to you in shame,

Yet you drew me into your embrace as you whispered my name.

You lovingly cleansed me, washing away the filth from my past,

As I realized what I’d been looking for had been found at last.

A love that restores and makes old things better than new,

What I’d been desperately searching for, God, was always You.

You called me Your child, an heir, and Your friend,

And nothing I could do would ever cause this to end.
